Pie
Matthew Fraction, Director
Written On The Bus Cinema

Two people who did appreciate Sicherman's work in Angels Run, Little Boys Work and in television's Frankenfamily were Director Matt Fraction and Fraction's life partner, actor Scott Bakula. Fraction and Bakula had been shopping around their newest project, a small film about two delicatessen owners and their favorite regular, a wise cracking Yiddish comic. The project, simply called Pie, wasn't getting the response they had hoped for, so to garner more interest, they changed the role of the protagonist into a ten-year-old boy and attached Sicherman's name to it.

The result was one of the year's worst movies. Very little was changed from the original script and Fraction insisted that Sicherman maintain the Yiddish dialect that had been written into it. While it is indisputable that Sicherman's accent was flawless, the effect was disconcerting to say the least.

Bakula, for his part, gave a stirring performance as Yitzhach, part owner of the delicatessen, and the affection he had for Sicherman's Moishe appeared not ingenuine.

When reached for comment on having worked with David Sicherman Bakula told us, "Life partner? Yeah, I met him once in college, but life partner? I'm married for Christ's sake. Life partner? Do you know how I can find Fraction? I need to talk to that guy."
